The other player will have Bones, Skelly Infantry, Banshee, Dead Marsh, Grave Keep, and Necropolis. Each player will also collect their matching color cubes, dice, and tokens)
Setup
To set up the game, each player will put a Castle token, Warlord token, and 2 gold worth of Army tokens on the Territory they brought to the game. These are your starting forces. Put a cube on the first spot of your starting Castles crops, population and market tracker. Also place a cube on the first spot of your Warlords or Armies tracker (if any). Setup all other cards in front of you; they will be used later.
The player count, will determine how many Territories and how they are placed in the game.
(With the two-player starter, one player will place Blood Moon in the middle of the table, and the other will put Dead Marsh with 3 territories in the middle. Plain Town goes in the middle)
2-player game - Each player will have their Home Territory in the middle of the table with 3 random Territories in between.
3+ player game - Each player will have their Home Territory in front of them with a random Territory on either side. Players next to other players are considered to be adjacent.
Finally, players bring any Encounters that all players agreed too and place the token on the appropriate Territory. It will show right under the Encounters name. Put a cube on the furthest left spot of the Encounters health (if any).
(With the two-player starter, place Patches token on Plain Town and Patches card next to that Territory)
1 - Forsaken players Home Territory with 1 Castle, 1 Warlord, and 2 gold worth of Armies tokens
2 - Black Rose players Home Territory with 1 Castle, 1 Warlord, and 2 gold worth of Armies tokens

PLAY THE GAME!
Object of the game
The object of the game is to get a Population of 9 or destroy all enemy Warlords.
Playing the game
Starting with the first player (decided by the players), Players will check to see if they have 9 Population to Win the Game! Next, players will Collect Resources and then play as many Actions as they want. Once done, the player to the right will go on and so forth for the rest of the game.
(With the two-player starter, the way to get the 9th Population is if you own Plains Town)
Collect Resources
Collect resources from Crops, Markets, Territories, and Buildings by moving the resources collected up the Storage Tracker. When collecting resources, add a cube to the storage tracker if it had none. If the Storage is maxed, players may not collect more resources. If it goes below 1, take the cube off the tracker.
Crops & Markets: Collect the number of resources from your Crops and Markets on your Castle card equal to the number the cube is currently on. Do not collect from castles with no cubes on it.
Territories and Buildings: Collect the number of resources located on the cards that you have Armies on.
(With the two-player starter, there are no Territories and Buildings that produce anything)
Actions
Once a player collects their resources, they may do as many of the Actions below. You can do the same action multiple times. When spending gold or food, move the cost down the tracker.
Build
Crops, Markets and Population
Spend gold or food to upgrade their Markets, Crops or Population. Pay the cost on the spot ahead of the cube on the tracker, then move the cube to that spot.
Build a Building
Pay the cost and play the token on a Territory.
Castle
Pay the cost and play the token on a Territory that doesn’t have a Castle already. You must have Armies in that Territory. Place a cube on the first spot of the Population, Crops and Market.
Recruit
Army or Warlords
Pay the cost of the Army or Warlord and place the token or tokens on a Castle you own.
Move Army
Players may spend a Food to move as many Armies from one Territory to an adjacent one. If two players have Armies in the same Territory, it immediately starts a WAR! (see WAR!)
WAR!
If at least two players have Armies or Warlords that share a Territory, it immediately starts a WAR! Each player will collect dice, roll, and see if they do damage. Before anything, check out the Territory to see if it has any effect on the WAR! The Territory will say when it affects the battle. Either Before Battle, Battle or After Battle. If a player has multiple types of Armies and Warlords, do the next two steps separately before moving to the damage step.
Collect dice - Each player will collect dice equal to their dice stat located on the card and rolls!
Collect hits - Each dice that is equal to or higher than the Hit number turns into damage.
If a player has multiple types of Armies and Warlords, do the previous two steps before moving onto the next step.
DAMAGE - Assign damage to any of your opponent’s Armies health located on their cards. If the Warlord or Army has a health tracker, move their health cube down equal to the number of hits assigned. If the health tracker can't go down further, the token is removed from the game. If there is no health tracker, the hits must equal the number of health the Army has in order to remove their token. Place the Army token back on their Army card. The Warlord can only be targeted if all the opponents’ Armies are defeated. If there are multiple players, Whichever players turn this is gets to assign the damage first and goes clockwise.
Win, Retreat or MORE WAR!
Win - The winner controls that Territory and can get the Reward of that Territory (if any).
Retreat - If the Territory still has two or more players on it, a player may retreat to any one of their Castles. IF NOT, Repeat the WAR! Steps.
If a player doesn’t have Warlord. THEY LOSE THE GAME!
